Port Awards Scholarships to Local Students 2012
Four new students have been named as recipients of a Port of Tauranga scholarship for tertiary study (which brings the total recipients for 2012 to eight). [ 2nd February 2012 ]
Advice to Ships Masters
The Harbourmaster has discontinued the recommended route that was established when the Rena broke in two. The Rena exclusion zone still applies and you will find the details of this in the attached Notice to Mariners.
There have been no reported problems with Rena debris for over two weeks. In addition, any containers and large pieces of debris spotted in the aftermath of the vessel breaking up have sunk, been recovered or are accounted for and pose no danger.

Port Status Update 10 Jan 2012
The aft section of the Rena has sunk on the reef this morning; consequently we have not yet heard back from the Harbourmaster on the recommended shipping route to the port.
