Actively Managed Dangerous Goods

For Imports and Exports Class 7 Dangerous Goods need to be removed from Tauranga Container Terminal within 24 hours of their arrival. They pose an additional risk in our operational area and it is impractical to have these go Direct to Motor Vehicle (DMV). On arrival at MetroPort they must be uplifted within 24 hours of their receival.

The Ministry of Health National Radiation Laboratory (NRL) administers the Radiation Protection Act 1974 and Regulations and is responsible for classification, storage, transport and packaging approval for Class 7 (radioactive material) . For information on the transport of Radioactive materials contact the NRL.

Tauranga Container Terminal Operating Procedure

The Planning Shift Leader or Duty Planner will contact the National Radiation Laboratory for approval on a case by case basis.
