Social Responsibility

Sam Warriner

Port of Tauranga appreciates the community support for its operations and returns that support through a range of sponsorship investment and donations.

The Port’s sponsorship portfolio touches key segments of our wider community, including the community, the environment, education, arts and sport.

Sponsorships such as the Turirangi Te Kani Memorial Scholarship for Maori tertiary students from local iwi, and support for the University of Waikato, are aimed at building the region’s knowledge bank. If you would like to find out more information on the Turirangi Te Kani Memorial Scholarships please email: cfo@port-tauranga.co.nz

Half Iron ManIn sport, the Company has been the principal sponsor of the Port of Tauranga Half Ironman for the past 24 years and also sponsors teams from the Company and its customers. For more information on the Port of Tauranga Half go to: http://www.tgahalf.co.nz/

For a number of years, instead of end of year corporate gifts to its clients, the Company donates $6,000 to the Tauranga Community Foodbank Trust. A further $4,000 is donated to a charity chosen from staff suggestions.

We have just renewed a second four year, $250,000 partnership with the Philips Trust to support the TrustPower TECT Rescue Helicopter. The initial funding was used to purchase a winch which has facilitated a number of rescues since its purchase.

We also make a number of smaller donations throughout the year to community groups, schools and individuals.

If you have any suggestions or comments on the Port’s social responsibility please email us at administration@port-tauranga.co.nz.
