Port of Tauranga hosts one of the world’s most luxurious cruise ships
The world’s last great ocean liner, the Queen Mary 2, made its maiden visit to Tauranga in March.
The luxurious flagship of the Cunard Line stayed overnight during a 13-night cruise around New Zealand from Sydney.
The 149,215-tonne cruise ship is 345 metres long and 62 metres above water. She carries up to 2,700 passengers and around 1,200 crew at up to 30 knots top speed.
Port of Tauranga Opens Expanded Container Terminal
Port of Tauranga officially opened a major expansion of its container terminal facilities of the 4th of April 2013. The Port, New Zealand’s largest, has expanded its container wharf length by nearly a third, installed a new Super-Post Panamax gantry crane and ancillary equipment, and grown its landside cargo capacity.
