Charges

The Port of Tauranga provides all customers using our facilities with a fast, efficient and reliable service at competitive rates.

Typical charges associated with Port services including vessel, cargo, storage and other tariffs are reviewed on a yearly basis. The following tariff schedule is an easy-to-follow breakdown of basic costs involved for services provided. All tariffs quoted are in New Zealand dollars. For an explanation of terms refer to our Glossary of Terms.

Tariffs are effective from 1 July 2010 to 30 June 2011.
Tariffs are GST exclusive.  Invoices will be generated for a minimum charge of $30.00.

Principal Tariffs

Vessel Tariff 

 
Marine Charges
Vessels up to 20,000 GRT — $1.07 cents/GRT
Vessels over 20,000 GRT — 90 cents/GRT plus $4,075.00
Minimum vessel charges $1,800.00/visit
  1. Charges for vessels up to 70m exclude towage.
    Towage: 17 cents per GRT (refer minimum charges).
  2. Charges for vessels up to 70-149m include one tug on arrival and departure.
    Additional tug: 17 cents per GRT.
  3. Charges for vessels 150m and over include two tugs on arrival and departure.
  4. Rebate for non-use of tugs: 70-149m 8 cents per GRT per tug, 150m and over 4 cents per GRT per tug.
  5. Cancellation fees may apply under special circumstances.

Storage fees unless otherwise specified in the schedule are charged on the basis of per tonne or cubic metre, whichever is the greater. All rates are as specified, unless otherwise individually agreed. Free storage days are calculated on a 7 day week. An extra day will be allowed if storage occurs on a statutory holiday. No cargo will be delivered without the prior approval of the Manager Operations or his authorised agent. Invoices will be generated for a minimum charge of $30.00.

Demurrage will be payable on breakbulk cargo after the free day allowance. Demurrage will be chargeable from day one of containers being packed or unpacked. 

Please see separate Principal Tariffs for general charges and all cargo moved through Tauranga Container Terminal/MetroPort. Payment of invoices are due 14 days following date of invoice.
Invoices will be generated for a minimum of $30.00.
