Exporting New Zealand

Congratulations!

Your knowledge of New Zealand exports is now well known.
You have been asked to act as a consultant to advise a major New Zealand Exporter on how to get their products from the Port of Tauranga to Tokyo, Japan.

The terms of the contract are very precise. The company is paying you a lot of money to advise them and it is very important that you provide detail to explain your final recommendation to the company.
The export company will be making their final decision on which shipping company to use, at their next board meeting, and is expecting you to make a presentation of your findings to the board at that time.

Please read the contract offered by the export company. Print the contract and sign it if you agree to its terms. Study the Shipping of Exports Contract Payment Scale to see how you will be paid at the completion of the contract.

How Much is Exported to Japan?

  • Choose any ONE of the export products in the list provided by Statistics New Zealand.
  •  Draw a graph to show the percentage of this product that is exported to each country. Customise your graph to put emphasis on the percentage exported to Japan.
  • From your graph, explain the importance of Japan as an importer of your company's product.
