Seatrade Consolidates on Port of Tauranga

Posted on 4th December 2007

Seatrade, the world's largest specialist reefer shipping operator, announced plans today to consolidate on the Port of Tauranga, adding an additional 18 vessel calls per annum.

Port of Tauranga Chief Executive, Mark Cairns, said Seatrade's announcement was excellent news. "The Port of Tauranga has enjoyed a long and productive association with Seatrade, so naturally we are delighted with their decision to relocate from Auckland and consolidate on Tauranga as their primary New Zealand Port. "

"We recognise the importance of our breakbulk and conventional reefer cargoes and have planned to ensure that we provide sufficient land and facilities to cater for future growth in these trades.

Seatrade's decision also demonstrates confidence in our MetroPort Auckland service as a viable option to move import and export containers into and out of the Greater Auckland Region."
