Posted on 25th October 2006

Australasian company and key player in the handling of bulk liquids, Marstel Terminals, announced today that the Company has entered into an agreement that will see the establishment of a new bulk liquid terminal at Port of Tauranga.

Marstel Terminals currently import through their terminal at Auckland’s Western Reclamation, and while the Company will continue to operate a significant part of their business from Gabador Place in Auckland, Port of Tauranga will become the key site for their bulk activity and future growth.

Graham Catley, Marstel’s Managing Director, said “We consider we have secured a premier location on a long-term basis which will ensure an efficient operation with maximum potential to increase volumes in the future”.

Initially, the terminal is expected to handle around 50,000 tonnes per annum, with the potential to grow the volume up to 200,000 tonnes within the land area provided. Construction of the $15M project is expected to begin in April 2007.
